KURIKAWA Kutami Paper Fan KOMARU
Overview
This is a traditional craft from Kumamoto Prefecture, known as "Kurumi Shibu Uchiwa," which has been passed down since the Edo period. The surface is coated with persimmon tannin extracted from unripe blue persimmons (mamegaki), which helps to strengthen the washi paper and provides insect-repelling effects. The rustic color can also be enjoyed as it ages.
