KAMA-ASA’s Chinese Style Steamer 18cm
About this tool
An indispensable tool for steaming dishes
This Chinese tea stove is one of the few made in Japan of Japanese cypress and bamboo.
Because the lid is made of woven bamboo, the steam is released moderately, resulting in a clean and refreshing steaming experience.
The Japanese cypress itself also absorbs steam, which makes the food more delicious.
4 Key of Kamasa's Chinese Seiro
Steams well
To prevent steam from escaping, the top surface of the lid is made of a double layer of Ajiro weave, with a piece of wood placed between the two.
This makes it suitable not only for cooking dim sum such as steamed meat buns and siumai, but also for steaming glutinous rice such as okowa and sekihan (red rice).
The 27cm and 30cm sizes are not made as shown above.

Versatile deep type specification
It is made deeper than a regular seiro to increase capacity and make it easier to cook dishes such as steamed egg custard with high dishware.
Also, to take advantage of this depth, a stainless steel footed sunoko net was made.
With the sunoko net, one level of the seiro can also be used for cooking on two levels.
Long-lasting manufacturing method
The clasp is made of mountain cherry bark and stainless steel fittings.
By fastening it in several places, we have created a seiro that can be used for a long time.

Special shapes for each size
The 18 cm to 24 cm seiro are designed to be easy to use at home, with a lid called "Inro-udonome" that prevents the lid from sliding off the body when the lid is put on, allowing the seiro to be carried to the dining table without worry.
The 27cm and 30cm Seiro are used by business people, so they are made thicker than the usual Seiro, making them more durable.

How to choose a seiro Q&A
Chinese Steamer or Japanese Steamer?
Both can cook the same food. Among them, the Chinese silo from Kamaasa has more space inside the silo when the body and lid are stacked, so it can hold more ingredients compared to other silos of the same size, and it can also be used to steam dishes with dishes inside, so-called chawan-mushi, so the Chinese silo is more versatile in cooking.
I don't know how to choose the size of the Steamer...
We recommend that you think about the size of the dish when it is cooked in a steamer and served on the dining table as is.
It is easier to choose the size if you think in terms of the size of a plate.
Example: 18 cm seiro = 18 cm plate (about 1-2 servings)
What should I look for in a long-lasting ceilo?
It is recommended to look at the number of clasps on the seiro. Many foreign-made seiro have 2-3 clasps, and some products have fewer clasps.
Because the clasps break down, it becomes impossible to maintain the shape of the Steamer.
On the other hand, Kamasa's Chinese Seiro has a very large number of clasps (14), and in particular, four stainless steel wires are used to fasten it from the outside through the inside, which makes it stronger and more durable, and it is made to last for a long time.
Seiro seems to be difficult to maintain...
Wash with a scrubber and water without detergent.
Using detergent will remove the oil from the wood, making it difficult to keep it hygienic.
When drying, wipe dry lightly and hang dry in the shade overnight in a well-ventilated place.
Seiro is a tool that passes steam and is heat sterilized every time it is used for cooking, making it one of the easiest wooden products to care for.

Regarding the quality of products

- About Cracks
This product is handmade by craftsmen one by one using natural wood and bamboo. The clasps are bound by cutting into the wood fibers with a tool called a "wood tongs". Therefore, depending on the position of the wood grain and the direction of the wood fibers, cracks may inevitably occur in the board at the fastening part. In addition, cracks may appear due to thermal expansion during use. - About the coarseness
Due to the processing machine and production process, some of the processed surfaces may have fluffiness or roughness. Please understand that none of these items can be used as a cooking utensil. - About the nature of wood and individual differences
The following differences may occur.

- It's turning black...
Discoloration may occur depending on the water quality in the area where the product is used. Basically, there is no problem if you use the product as it is. If you are concerned, rubbing with a slice of lemon may improve the discoloration. - Cracks are starting to appear...
This may occur at the beginning of use, but in most cases the cracks do not progress and the wood can be used as it is, as the splitting of the wood creates a space for expansion and contraction.
Please understand that this is a characteristic of the product as it occurs due to the natural material and the manufacturing process.
