KAMA-ASA’s Japanese Style Steamer
Overview
Traps steam well
This is one of the few Japanese-style seiro made of Japanese cypress and bamboo. It is deep enough to be used for steaming any kind of food.
By covering it tightly with a wooden lid, more steam can accumulate inside the pot, making it ideal for use with glutinous rice such as sticky rice cakes and red rice.
Because of its compact size, it is also recommended for steaming small vegetables.

Each piece is carefully crafted one by one using a technique called "kenkemono," which involves bending a single thin sheet of wood to create a finished product.

The main body is made of Japanese cypress, with yamazakura bark used as a clamping material.
The rare Japanese cypress is not only durable, but also has excellent humidity control properties and produces a moderate steaming effect.

Regarding the quality of our products

- About Cracks
This product is handmade by craftsmen one by one using natural wood and bamboo. The clasps are bound by cutting into the wood fibers with a tool called a "wood tongs". Therefore, depending on the position of the wood grain and the direction of the wood fibers, cracks may inevitably occur in the board at the fastening part. In addition, cracks may appear due to thermal expansion during use. - About the coarseness
Due to the processing machine and production process, some of the processed surfaces may have fluffiness or roughness. Please understand that none of these items can be used as a cooking utensil. - About the nature of wood and individual differences
